Relab Heavy Current Laboratory

A total system that fulfils all the requirements of the most stringent Heavy Current program covering: Domestic and General Circuits, Illumination, Rotating Electrical Machines, Electric Motor Controls, Transmission Lines, Auto Electrical Power Electronics, etc. The system relies on the principle that unless you can show it, your students cannot fully understand it. Therefore all the equipment is made up of didactically valid modules where all the functions are reflected through easily followed circuit diagrams. By the end of the course the learners will have a conceptual understanding of the subject as well as an appreciation of the underlying theory.

Relab Multimotor Plug and Play

The Relab Plug & Play (patent pend 20003062) Multimotor is an open framed electrical machine which can be configured into any number of motors by simply changing the plug-in terminal board, bringing Plug and Play technology to the Rotating Electrical Laboratory.

The learner can interconnect the windings on a didactically valid panel, which provides him with a visual understanding of how the different electrical machines are wound and how these windings affect their performance. Interpoles can be inserted in the same or opposite polarity. Series poles can be added or subtracted to the shunt poles to produce compound machines. The learner is able to see the position of the brushes, see the effect of brush shifting, experience the feel of the drive bearings, align two machines. Magnetic polarity, neutral plane, armature reaction etc are easily experienced and understood with the aid of the clear full colour manual. Simply plug in a new terminal board and have a new motor. Plug and Play!
